美国曼哈顿的郊外有一家五金作坊,老板是一位名叫乔·蒙哥马利的年轻人。他在1952年研制出了一种制作自行车的优质铝材,就用所有的积蓄办起了一家小小的自行车生产公司。第一批自行车很快生产出来。这种材料虽然品质好,但是成本也非常高,一辆自行车光成本就要700美元,所以售价最起码要1200美元以上才有钱赚。蒙哥马利把样品送到销售商那里,却遭到了拒绝:“我们卖的自行车大都是两三百美元一辆,你的车这么贵,谁会买?”
There is a hardware workshop on the outskirts of Manhattan in the United States. The boss is a young man named Joe Montgomery. In 1952 he developed a high quality aluminum for bicycles and started a small bicycle company with all his savings. The first batch of bicycles will be produced soon.
