According to traditional Chinese medicine,the cause of acute thrombophlebitis profundusis stagnant Heat in vessels which leads toBlood stasis.We applied the method of dispell-ing pathogenic Heat from the“Ying”(nutrient)system to eliminate Blood stasis both exter-nally and internally in sixty cases at the acuteand subacute stage with satisfactory results.Therate of clinical cure or marked improvementwas 98.3%.The outstanding feature of thistreatment is the rapid subsidence of edemawith only a few sequelae.As compared withanti-coagulation,fibrinogenolytic methods andsurgical removal of thrombus,the method pro-ves to be safer and lower in cost.
