我县位于山东沂蒙山区东部,二十三处社镇,一千二百四十六个大队,九十一万人口,总面积二百九十二万八千亩,其中耕地一百二十五万亩,宜林山滩七十六万二千亩。整个自然面貌是,四周群山环抱,丘陵起伏,沐河纵贯南北,二十六条大小支流网布全县,冲积成面积八十五万亩的莒中平原,可谓河多、滩多。全县适宜营造丰产林的河滩和沟头坝地共十万多亩。具有营造杨树等速生丰产林的土地资源。
