近几年来,我国夏玉米品种选育出紧凑型或理想型品种。这种品种株型紧凑,果穗以上叶片较小并直立,与茎秆夹角小,穗位叶及果穗以下叶片平展,与茎秆夹角也小,适宜密植,有利提高光能利用,一般每亩可增加1000~1500株,比普通型每亩增产200斤左右。不仅使国内夏玉米产量出现了新的突破,显示出我国夏玉米产量的潜力,而且为今后玉米育种奠定了株型育种的新类型目标。
