《走向新世纪——中国青年油画展》于1997年11月在北京举办。在世纪之交的重要时刻举办青年油画展,旨在全面展示当代中国青年油画队伍的水平与现状,评选出优秀的青年油画家,促进青年油画创作的学术交流,推动21世纪中国油画艺术向更高的水平发展。这次青年展共收到从全国各地送选的作品2500件,数量之多,前所未有。说明油画以其鲜明的文化内涵与独特的表现形式,在新的时期里迅猛发展。
“Towards the New Century - Chinese Young Oil Painting Exhibition” was held in Beijing in November 1997. At the important juncture of the turn of the century, Youth Oil Painting Exhibition is held to showcase the current level and current status of contemporary Chinese youth oil painting team, select outstanding young oil painters, promote academic exchanges among young artists and promote the art of Chinese oil painting in the 21st century High level of development. This Youth Exhibition received a total of 2,500 works sent from all parts of the country, as many as ever. This shows that with its distinctive cultural connotation and unique forms of expression, oil painting has developed rapidly in the new period.
