纳撒尼尔·李·盖奇(Nathaniel Lees Gage,1917-2008)是我们心理学领域里一位坚持不懈的学者。他总是非常清楚自己的目标,那就是寻求教学艺术的科学基础。教学为什么不能是一门实践艺术?毕竟教师并不能够严格按照公式、规则或是算术来教学。盖奇一直在追求教学的科学基础,但他的工作同时也具有实用主义性质。他真正感兴趣的是实用的科学。科学与实用主义一直影响着盖奇的工作,但是他也探寻它们之间的关系。他希望教育心理学能够影响教师的工作与生活,并且通过提供更为充分的科学依据(在此之前几乎没有)来帮助改革他们的职业。盖奇从事心理学的时间长达72年!然而,盖奇的研究之路并不是一帆风顺的。
Nathaniel Lees Gage (1917-2008) is a persistent scholar in the field of psychology. He is always very aware of his goal, that is, to find the scientific basis for teaching art. Why can not teaching be a practical art? After all, teachers are not able to teach strictly according to formulas, rules or arithmetic. Gage has been pursuing the scientific basis of teaching, but his work is also of pragmatism. He is really interested in practical science. Science and pragmatism have always influenced Gage’s work, but he also explores the relationship between them. He hoped that educational psychology would influence teachers’ work and life and help reform their careers by providing a more adequate scientific basis (with little before that). Gage engaged in psychology for as long as 72 years! However, Gage’s research is not an easy one.
