2009年8月8日,由威海市部分业余无线电台爱好者组建的民兵无线应急通信分队,参加了在山东省乳山市冯家镇花家疃水库举行的2009年乳山市抗洪抢险演练。演习现场模拟突发灾害时,市电中断,光缆损毁,基站堵塞,公众电话网全面瘫痪或者局部瘫痪。为了调配物资和人员,现场指挥长需要及时和处于乳山市区的抗洪指挥部和位于银滩的乳山市武装部取得联系。要求民兵无线分队在十几分钟内架设完成数台超短波无线电台。并保证演练现场的各个分队间的通信畅通。
