My wife and I, Janet, drop our own clinic and leave our cozy home, to the desolate town of Oakland, about 8,000 km west of Canada. It is very remote and the weather is cold, but we feel the vast expanse of our life here, with warmth, friendship and optimism. I remember a winter night, a farmer called to say that only he and a baby at home, while the baby is having a fever. Although there is heating in the car, he did not dare to risk taking the baby on the road. He heard that I do not care how late I am willing to visit, so please go home and give him a cure for the baby. His farm is fifteen kilometers away and I want him to tell me how to go.
