In order to reduce skin damage caused by radiation, the authors studied the protective effect of methanol extracts of 60 Chinese herbal formulas on damaged skin. Six-week-old ICR male mice were irradiated with 1100R systemically and 60 kinds of methanol extracts were intraperitoneally administered before (5 min, 60 min) or after (5 min, 60 min) irradiation, within 21 to 40 days after administration.
