The turning point narration is very common in autobiography of the West. The religious autobiography represented by Augustine at first was followed by development and change during the secularization of autobiography, and some basic patterns were formed. Under different cultural traditions, . It is an important means by which autobiographies identify themselves and reveal thematic and structural plots, but this function is weakened in modern autobiography. Turning point is a kind of self-discovery or self-construction? People have different answers. A turning point can also be found in ancient Chinese autobiographies represented by Sima Qian and modern Chinese autobiographies influenced by the West. However, their narrative forms are different from Western autobiographies.
