A new study published by the U.S. Environmental Health magazine found that exposure of pregnant women to high concentrations of polluting air can increase the risk of premature birth by 19%, the UK’s Daily Mail reported. Exposure to small particles of airborne contaminants during late pregnancy is most at risk. The new study, Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center and University of Cincinnati researcher Dr. Emily Di Franco and his team conducted a comb analysis of birth records in Ohio in 2007 and 2010, involving newborns (excluding multiple births) Nearly 225,000, of which more than 19,000 preterm children. The researchers compared birth record data with daily PM2.5 values measured by EPA’s 27 monitoring stations. The results found that 91% of premature children appeared in the most air pollution in the center of the city. Living roads trunk
