安葬于河南省漯河市郾城县(现郾城区)烈士陵园的宋盘铭烈士,是洪湖革命根据地的创建者和领导人之一,他与贺龙元帅交往很深。1953年,贺龙元帅曾给宋盘铭的父亲写信,称赞宋盘铭是“人民功臣”。郾城烈士陵园初建时,宋盘铭的父亲带着当年贺龙元帅写给他的亲笔信来到北京,贺龙得知宋盘铭之父来访,立即同警卫员和秘书出门迎接,并设宴招待。尔后,贺龙带他前去拜见了朱德元帅,并得到了朱德亲笔书写的“革命烈士永垂不朽”8个大字。
