  Food Safety Concerns and
  Chinese Youth
Fast food chains McDonald’s KFC, Subway, and Burger King were rocked by the recent meat scandal as meat supplier for these fast food chains, Shanghai’s HUSI group’s plant, was exposed by an undercover report using expired meat and substandard products to be provided to these outlets. But this has caused very slight stir among youths who usually go and eat at these stores. Initial reaction by users was strong and some people even went claiming that they would never use junk food in lifetime but water have settled now and these food chains’ outlets are full of buyers again. This incident has brought into light China’s ever worsening situation with food safety. While government is trying to address the problems and claiming of making serious efforts in this regard, there is a lot to be done on user front also. Public should be aware of their consumer rights and laws pertaining to food safety issues which can push food suppliers to adopt stricter measures for providing healthier and safe food to consumers. Internet can be used as a vital tool both by netizens and government to educate public on food safety laws and awareness issues.
