The use of metal cans to enhance the ECF ion beam ion beam current intensity of highly charged ions is described. Aluminum tube enhancement is the most significant. The beam intensity of Ar (8+) ions increased from 245μA to 330μA and Ar (9+) increased from 125μA to 150μA compared to zirconium.
