1937年1月底,美国人史沫特莱来到延安。延安交际舞就是由其传授,并作为向封建势力的挑战,而逐渐时兴起来的。陕北黄土地上,宝塔山下,延水河边,一对对闻乐起舞的翩跹身影,别有一番生动活泼的革命生活景象。延安十年(1937～1947)的业余时间里,其前五年的周末和节假日晚会上,革命队伍里时兴交际舞。它是严肃紧张的工作、学习、生产、战斗之余,别一番生动活泼的革命生活历史。
In late January 1937, American Smedley arrived in Yanan. Yan’an Ballroom Dance is taught by them and gradually becomes fashionable as a challenge to the feudal forces. On the loess land in northern Shaanxi, under the pagoda hill, stretches along the riverside. A pair of dancers who dance to the music and music do not have a lively and vivid scene of revolutionary life. In the spare time of Yan’an ten years (1937 ~ 1947), during the first five years of weekends and holidays, the revolutionary ranks danced and became fashionable.
