Birth injuries in 165 cases during 1988-1991 were analysed. The results were cephalhematoma in 79 cases,intracranial hemorrhage from birth injury in 35 cases,subgaleal hemorrhage in 13 cases,peripheral nerve injuries in 10 cases,fracture of clavicle in 6 cases. It wasshowed that intracranial hamorrhagc from birth injury was the most serious consequence inbirth trauma,and lnappropriate delivery fashion or anomalous position of fetus was its maincauses. Therefore, t he skill of obstet rician showld bc impoved. Cephalhematoma often is associated with hyperbilirubinemia in cases in wllich the hematoma is large,even nuclear icterus.In such ipstances, puneture hematoma is required.
