中華人民共和國第一週國慶節,國內各地四十二種兄弟民族代表都來參加這個空前的盛會。中國科學院語言研究所所利用這個機會把他們的語言用Audograph和Wiretone錄音器分別記錄下来,一來可以留作永久紀念,二來可以作研究語言的材料。事先,本所和民族事務委員會取得聯系,請他們協助共同完成這個任務。並由兩下參酌準備了一個提綱,錄音時並不拘定提綱內容逐字翻譯的,而是請各民族代表闻自己的話把提綱的意思表達出來。如果有不識字的代表就請他們用自己的語言自由談話或講故事。
On the first day of the National Day of the People’s Republic of China, 42 ethnic representatives from all over China came to attend this unprecedented event. The Institute of Language of Chinese Academy of Sciences took advantage of this opportunity to record their language separately using Audograph and Wiretone recorders, which can be used as a permanent memorial and as a material for studying the language. Prior to this, we contacted the Ethnic Affairs Commission and asked them to help accomplish this task together. And prepared a synopsis from two arguments, recording without interpreting the contents of the outline verbatim translation, but rather to ask the national representatives to hear their own words to convey the meaning of the outline. If illiterate representatives ask them to speak freely or tell stories in their own language.
