The 5th World Water Conference, co-sponsored by the Ministry of Construction of the People’s Republic of China and the International Water Association, was grandly opened at the Beijing International Convention Center on the afternoon of September 10, 2006. Zeng Peiyan, Honorary Chairman of the Organizing Committee of the General Assembly, and Vice Premier of the State Council attended the opening ceremony and made an important speech.
