电站锅炉由于蒸发量大,受热面多,重量从几百t到上千t,高度从30m到60m,为节省构架钢材消耗、便于制造、运输和安装,一般都是采用悬吊式结构。整台锅炉的大部分重量通过吊杆、承重梁等部件集中到分布在炉顶的数根大板梁上,大板梁再把重量传给柱子。大板梁不但承受了锅炉本体的重量同时还要承受锅炉因受热而产生的附加应力,因此大板梁的质量关系着整台锅炉的稳定,关系着锅炉运行的安全。相关标准、规范对大板梁的挠度规定了相同的要求。《电站锅炉大板梁挠度的定量检测》(《中国特种设备安全》,2008年第8期)一文
