The application of oxygen to civil aircraft follows the provisions of the Federal Aviation Regulations (FARs) that cover many special types of aircraft. However, these ordinances often contradict each other or are inconsistent with the military standards concerning the same flight conditions. The evaluation of the various records that guide the establishment of these Ordinances does not provide a reliable basis for examining the causes of discrepancies. In theory, the rules based on the physiological and cognitive responses to a given flight program will lead to the formulation of the most responsive regulations on the safety and comfort of crew and passengers. In addition, regulations-based performance can facilitate the certification process for oxygen equipment when new technologies or materials are involved. One of the purposes of this article to explore the issue is to cite some of the current use of oxygen
