清康熙、雍正、乾隆时期,安徽桐城人张英为官近30年,其子张廷玉居官50余年,均先后官至一品、位跻宰辅,成为朝廷的枢要之臣,乡里民间成冠以“父子双宰相”之称。张英、张廷玉的书法虽不如他们的政名和学问那样显赫于世,但从其存世较少的各种墨迹来看,父子二人仍不失为功力颇深、修养全面的书法家。张英(1637~1708年),字敦复,号乐圃、龙眠庄叟。康熙六年(1667年)进士,选庶吉士,后迁翰林院编修、侍读学士。
