英国“新左派”的社会发展理论认为,在当前西方资本主义社会,工人阶级是社会发展的主体和基本力量,社会主义是当今社会发展的目标,而发展先进的文化意识则是社会发展的优先途径。这一社会发展理论对于深化马克思主义社会发展理论,促进社会主义运动的复兴具有重要的意义,但是由于其忽视了社会发展的经济因素,导致其具有一定的空想成分。
