A cold forming process developed by Russia was introduced to the United States through a joint venture led by Diamona Tek, Ann Arbor, MI, owned by USP Holdings, a US company and the Institute of Superhard Materials, Kiev Ukrainian Academy of Sciences. According to Dr. Marko M.G.Slusarc-zuk, vice president of USP Holdings, the spline sleeve and universal joint spline connection for the steering wheel shaft are widely used in the European automotive industry.
