1985年春,福建省歌舞剧院乐团呱(?)坠地,现已经历五个春秋,回忆起乐团短暂的历史,人们情不自禁地赞叹:不容易啊!狠抓创作我国的严肃音乐创作较之西方各国是落后的,而福建省由于历史、地理的诸多原因,严肃音乐创作较之全国各大城市也是落后的,乐团深知要使自己的团体别具一格,必须首先抓好创作,产生一大批有本省特色的化秀作品,在短短几年内,乐团先后上演了本团、本省作曲家的数十部具有福建风格的交响乐、室内乐及声乐作品,其中有郭祖荣的《第四》、《第六》、《第七》交响曲及小提琴协奏曲《乐诗三章》、《D 大调钢琴协奏曲》;吴少雄的交响音诗《古埠》、交响套曲《闽士八沣》、《F 小调小提琴协奏曲》、交响大合唱《八闽潮》及弦乐四重奏《春韵》,章绍同的室内乐《远山》,林荣元的《D小调交响曲》,葛礼道的《台湾组曲》,胡伟的管弦乐《山林》,骆季超的《二胡协奏曲》等等。
