青年毛泽东从湖南第一师范学校毕业后,没有赴京读大学,也没有“赴法勤工俭学”,而是在北大图书馆做管理员。苏联十月革命后,他曾想赴俄留学,但因交通受阻和没有俄语基础而未成。从事革命运动后,繁重的工作使毛泽东无法静下心来学习外语,但他感到一个革命者如果不懂外语,将来“见马克思的时候怎么办呢?”
After graduating from the Hunan First Normal School, the young Mao Zedong did not go to Beijing for study in the university nor did he go to work-study program in France, but acted as administrator in the Peking University Library. After the October Revolution in the Soviet Union, he wanted to study in Russia, but he failed because of traffic congestion and lack of a Russian foundation. After the revolutionary movement, the arduous work made Mao unable to stop learning foreign languages. However, he felt that if a revolutionary does not understand the foreign language and “see Marx” in the future, what should he do?
