This paper studies the effect of sinusoidal interference on the phase-locked loop. The first part of the paper discusses the detrimental effects of the jamming signal on the loss of lock loop and analyzes the effect of the first order loop and the second order loop under certain conditions. The second part discusses a beneficial effect: If the PLL is not locked to a useful signal, then under certain conditions interfering signals will cause the PLL to lock.
