狮子是一种原产于非洲和亚洲西部的凶猛食肉兽类,我国本土并不出产。但其在我国文化中却占有举足轻重的地位,与虎一样,同样被誉称为“百兽之王”。同时,无论是高居庙堂,还是深入民间,或庄重肃穆或嬉笑俏皮,文化中处处可见“狮”的原型。本文从“狮”作为汉字产生的源流以及狮子进入中国文化圈的途径两方面来探寻这一问题,结合当前的研究成果,做出如下的概述和追寻。
Lions are a kind of ferocious carnivores native to Africa and western Asia. Our country does not produce it locally. However, it occupies a pivotal position in our culture. Like the tiger, it is also known as the “king of beasts”. At the same time, the archetype of “lion” is everywhere in the culture, whether it is in the temple or in the folk, or solemn or playful. This article explores this issue from two aspects: the origin of Chinese characters and the ways that Lions enter the Chinese cultural circle. Based on the current research results, this article makes the following overview and tracing.
