I am a 19-year-old American girl studying at Carnegie Mellon University. Because I live in a dormitory with other girls, I know and sympathize with romance and soul pain. Unreported love leads to many self-defeating behaviors - overdosing is not the worst of them. From the experience of myself and my good friends, it is clear that Americans often find comfort in good, but not nutritious foods. If someone in my friend has just ended a long romance, that abandoned person will be sad and frustrated. There are two kinds of reactions to sadness and depression - either completely losing appetite or stopping eating food
