The “development plan” proposed development goals include: the total amount of medical and health personnel resources steady growth. By 2015, the total number of health personnel will reach 9.53 million, an increase of 1.75 million as compared with that of 2009. By 2020, the total number of health personnel will reach 12.55 million. The scale of qualified personnel basically meets the needs of the people’s health service in our country. The structure and distribution of medical and health personnel are further optimized. By 2015, the number of practicing (assistant) physicians per 1,000 population will reach 1.88 (1.75 in 2009)
