The presence of phytophagous insects in the northern temperate forests has led to an increase in the concentration of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere, leading to the loss of more biomass, a report published online in Nature and Nature concludes. The study concluded that herbivorous insects limit the carbon uptake by these forests in high concentrations of carbon dioxide.
