用戏曲艺术为我国的社会主义革命和社会主义建设服务,以共产主义思想教育人民,更好地帮助推动历史前进,是我们每一个戏曲工作者的光荣任务。新的时代要求我们的戏曲艺术不仅能生动地表现历史生活,同时也能生动地表现新时代的人民生活,塑造新时代的英雄形象。传统的戏曲艺术,尤其是京剧,一向是以古代生活为表现题材的,它的形式对于表现现代生活存在着一定的距离和矛盾,所以,缩短传统艺术形式与现代生活之间的距离,解决它们之间的矛盾,排好、演好现代题材剧目,就成为了一项艺术革命的任务,也是一项思想革命的任务。每一个革命的戏曲工作者,都应该以炽热的心情参加到这次革命里来,在党的领导下,积极完成这一项政治任务。我们中国戏曲学校实验京剧团的全体同志,就是在这样的思想指导下进行了京剧《四川白毛女》的排演工作的。为了更多地听取同志们的意见,现在我想简单地谈一谈排演这个戏的一些粗浅的体会,以求正于同志们。

Traditional opera art, especially Peking Opera, has always been the theme of ancient life. Its form has some distance and contradiction to the performance of modern life. Therefore, it is necessary to shorten the distance between the traditional art forms and modern life and to solve them The contradiction between them, arrange well, play a good modern theme repertoire, has become a task of the art revolution, but also a revolutionary task. Every revolutionary drama worker should participate in this revolution with a glowing heart and actively accomplish this political task under the leadership of the party. All our comrades in the experimental Beijing Opera Troupe of the Chinese Opera School performed the rehearsal work of the Beijing Opera “Sichuan White-Haired Girl” under the guidance of such thoughts. In order to listen more to the opinions of the comrades, I now want to briefly talk about some superficial experiences of rehearsing the show in the hope of being comrades.
