国际疾病分类是世界卫生组织倡导和推行的各国用于疾病、损伤和死亡原因分类的统一标准化工具。疾病、损伤以及死亡原因的统一分类在医疗卫生工作中占有着重要的地位,但分类必须准确、完整。科学完整的疾病分类法是医疗卫生单位开展科学研究、搞好病案管理,资料信息和医疗卫生统计必不可少的,它直接关系着医务人员的培训和医疗质量的提高,此外,国家或地区的卫生统计也需要以此为依据才能获得有用的死因统计和疾病统计数据,这对每个国家来说都是福利、行政、人口问题研究、医学研究以及研定预防保健
