INTRODUCTION The controversy over the metallogenic area and its metal sources has not yet been fully resolved. Everyone’s attention has been focused on the basic issues raised by Noble (1970), who has rigorously measured the boundaries of the metallogenic area in the western part of the Americas, arguing that the metallogenic area reflects the original unevenness of the underlying metal distribution in the upper mantle and is rarely subject to Continental crust structure or effect.
