绞股兰、历代为人们不注意的一种野草。1972年云南省曲靖地区中西医结合小组等报道了绞股兰“治疗老年慢性气管炎537例……总有效率79%”。“成分有甾醇、糖类、色素及苷等”。全国中草药汇编登载:“清热解毒,止咳祛痰”。日本于1979年11月28日在广岛召开的全国首届人参讨论会上,竹本常松先生发表了,从绞股兰分离出与人参皂甙Rb_1、Rb_3、Rd相同的成分。近年来,竹本常松先生从绞股兰中分离出50多种绞股兰皂甙。其中绞股兰皂甙Ⅲ、Ⅳ、Ⅷ、Ⅻ分别同人参皂甙Rb_1、Rb_3、Rd、F_2是同一物质。绞股兰皂甙Ⅰ酶分解出人参皂
Gynostemma japonica, a weed that has not been noticed by people for generations.
