在英语作品中存在大量的与动物有关的成语。英语动物成语应用广泛、形象生动、感情色彩浓烈,英汉语言中动物形象的象征意义有相通之处,也存在由于历史、文化、传统、习俗、生活方式等差异造成的不同解读。在英汉翻译中,必须了解这些词的文化背景,来源和习惯用法,做出准确翻译,使语言更富表现力,使译文易为读者理解和接受。本文从英汉成语的功用出发,结合动物形象在两种语言中的象征意义,采用分析归纳的翻译方法,展现了成语翻译的丰富内涵。
There are a lot of animal-related idioms in English works. English animal idioms are widely used, vivid images and intense emotions. The symbolic meanings of animal images in English and Chinese have similarities, and there are also different interpretations due to differences in history, culture, traditions, customs and lifestyles. In the English-Chinese translation, we must understand the cultural background of these words, sources and habits, to make accurate translation, make the language more expressive, so that the translation is easy for the reader to understand and accept. Starting from the function of English and Chinese idioms, this article combines the symbolic meanings of animal images in two languages and adopts the method of analysis and induction to demonstrate the rich connotation of idiom translation.
