Nitric oxide (NO) is a small molecule that transmits information in the body and is involved in many disease processes. It is currently believed that NO in the gastric mucosa is derived from macrophages and polymorphonuclear leukocytes [1]. It is unclear whether gastric cancer cells themselves produce NO, given that nitric oxide synthase (NOS) is the key rate-limiting enzyme for NO formation. For this reason, this article observed the induction of nitric oxide in gastric cancer cells.
