一前言内燃机的马力输出所受到的限制因素不外有三个: 1.进氣效率。 2.排氣阀、活塞、活塞环的材料所能耐受高温的能力。 3.轴承负荷力量。引擎的进氣效率对一般地面用引擎的影响尚不大,且在设计中若侭量减少进氣系的阻力、加大进氣阀及进气岐管、退进氣时间及使用鼓风机等,均可将进氣损失减至最低限度。在航空发动机中则可利用增压器()以提高进氣效率,消除进氣损失。至于排氣阀活塞等材料之耐高温问题,由于冶金技术的发展,差不多都已经获得了解决。剩下的对引擎最大马力的限制因素,便是轴承的负荷问题了。
