18-Hydroxy-11-deoxycorticosterone(18-OH-DOC)is a hormone secreted by the adrenalcortex of humans and many animals.Its secre-tion is primarily ACTH-dependent.Some ex-perimental and clinical data has shown that 18-OH-DOC excesss may play a role in the patho-gensis of hypertension.This report describes thevariation of blood 18-OH-DOC content withblood pressure in essential hypertension patientsafter Qigong exercise and discusses the me-chanism of action of Qigong in controllinghypertension.
