In the tide of mergers and acquisitions in the 1960s, mixed mergers and acquisitions prevailed, and companies were pursuing diversification strategies and expanding their business scope to industries that were irrelevant or even completely contrary to the original main business. In this wave of mergers and acquisitions, companies have been targeting related companies within their own main business areas and looking for merger partners who can make their main business operations more complete, more systematic, and more competitive.
