U.S. officials in the industry have encouraged the U.S. Department of Defense to speed up the deployment of communications network capabilities for the military and state that the existing technologies will make the deployment immediate. Defense contractors have been pushing hard to advocate for the interconnection of air, sea and land systems and have encouraged DoD investment out of commercial motives. For example, Boeing estimates that by the year 2011, the market demand to be sought for each year will grow by more than $ 27 billion.
