郑东新区总体发展概念规划引入了共生城市、新陈代谢城市以及环行城市等众多先进的理念,新、老城一路之隔(107国道),着眼长远,融为一体,互为依托,相得益彰,体现了新颖的创意和独到的风格。郑东新区分为CBD区、龙湖地区、商住物流区、高科技工业区、运动城、龙子湖度假区和科技研究城七个组团,每个组团规划有环行公路,组团的商业、服务、行政中心沿环行公路布置,通过环行道路之间的连接实现组团之间的联系,沿河流、湖泊、高速公路、环路、主干路规划有大面积的生态回廓绿地。
