【Abstract】 English reading class is the main way to train students’ reading comprehension ability, and it is also the main carrier for students to learn new knowledge and consolidate the old knowledge.

Reading teaching can improve students’ comprehensive English ability. Then, how can we effectively improve the reading comprehension ability of senior high school students through classroom instruction?
1.Preparation before class
Different from junior high school English reading classes, senior high school English reading classes should pay more attention to the cultivation of students’ interests and abilities. Therefore, in the reading class, in addition to ensuring that students have enough time to read freely, students should also be required to read aloud, and briefly retell the main idea of the article. At the same time, students should be encouraged to tell or act out what they have read in front of other students to increase their sense of accomplishment.
2.Leading-in
This step is a key point in the whole class, a turning point from peace to excitement. The topics introduced
