在新疆境内乌奇公路以北离吉木萨尔县城约8公里的戈壁滩上,有一座绿荫环抱的“绿城”,这便是被解放军总后勤部和全国绿化委员会评为“绿化先进单位”的驻疆某红军部队军营。该部进疆15年,时刻不忘绿化,年年植树不止,现成活树木达到人均200株,在昔日荒凉的戈壁滩建起一座新疆军区第一流的“园林式营区”。这个部队1979年从西藏移防到新疆吉木萨尔县境内安营扎寨时,军营内外只有3棵老榆树。15年来,一茬又一茬官兵用自己的双手和智慧,搬走石头,拉来泥土,在乱石累累的戈壁滩
