Objective To evaluate the accuracy of a network-based dietary assessment tool, the eat-right assistant (ERA). Methods The women of childbearing age in Shanghai and the pregnant women who took routine checkups in a township hospital in Suzhou City and the lactating women with infants physical examination were selected as the study subjects. 3-day meal survey. The energy, nutrients, and various food intake data collected by the food helper were compared with the corresponding findings of the 24-hour meal review. A total of 90 women completed the three-day survey. In addition to the fruit intake, the two methods of energy, five nutrients and other types of food intake differences were not statistically significant. The correlation coefficients ranged from 0.61 to 0.93 (mean 0.75), from moderately correlated to strongly correlated. Consistency tests showed good agreement between the two methods. Conclusion The tool has good accuracy and great potential for promotion and application.
