This article addresses how to reduce connection costs and increase connection reliability by eliminating all manual wiring in the B200 and B5000 electronic data processing systems. The B200 system (Figure 1) is a commercial computer between small and medium sized, suitable for banking and commerce. The B5000 system (Figure 2) is a mid-to-large-area, high-speed computer for commercial and scientific applications. This article will B5000 system as an example, to illustrate some of the ways to solve the interconnection problem. Although the B5000 system is much larger and much faster than the B200 system, the same plug-ins and connections are used in both systems. B200 and B5000 electronic data processing system design principles include: 1. Plug, plug-in, backplane wiring
