Objective To investigate the control of nosocomial infection (NI) in patients with diabetes mellitus (DM) complicated with acute cerebral vascular disease (ACVD). Methods Retrospective analysis of NI data of hospitalized DM with ACVD from January 1993 to October 1997 was performed. Results The hospital infection rate (NIR) was 32. 8%, significantly higher than the NIR 21 of normal DM and ACVD. 4% and 16%. Respiratory infections top 66. 66%, followed by urinary tract and intestinal infections. In addition to the common ACVD awareness, limb movement, large, urinary disorders and prolonged bed rest, a variety of intubation, hyperglycemia is an important predisposing factor, DM chronic complications also have a certain impact. Conclusion Strengthening blood glucose control in this specific population is a key issue in the prevention and control of NI.
