古代西方自然思想的发展，对人与自然关系的探索都围绕着一个主题：摆脱自然的束缚，求得人类在自然面前的更大的自由。但是到了近代，工业文明的长足发展使得不可逆的自然退化发生，环境危机开始向人类亮出黄牌。进入本世纪以来，一些先觉者开始把目光投向道德领域，对造成环境危机的原因，对环境危机的解决进行道德思考，这便产生了现代意义的生态伦理学。
The development of ancient Western thought of nature and the exploration of the relationship between man and nature all revolve around the theme of getting rid of the shackles of nature and obtaining greater freedom for mankind before nature. However, in the modern era, the rapid development of industrial civilization led to irreversible natural degradation and the environmental crisis started to give yellow cards to human beings. Since the beginning of this century, some pioneers have begun to look into the realm of morality, moral thinking on the causes of environmental crises and the solution to environmental crises, resulting in the modern ecological ethics.
