The reform has brought more benefits to the people. According to a sample survey of urban households in Anhui Province, in recent years the living standard of urban residents has risen most rapidly since the founding of the People’s Republic. - Urban residents increased their incomes and raised their consumption levels. In 1988, the per capita monthly living expenses of urban residents in the province were 81.36 yuan, an increase of 1.45 times those of 1981, after deducting the price increase and actually increasing by 54.2%.
