用各种数学公式计算矿体(和岩层)真厚度的工作比较复杂,而且很容易出错。为了解决这个问题,出现了许多专用的工具书、诺模图、计算工具和计算表。其实,利用地质人员熟悉的极射赤平投影网(吴氏网)和一个钢尺,就可以在透明纸上比较准确(精度达30秒)而迅速地确定矿体(或岩层)的真厚度。计算矿体真厚度的关键是测出导线(假厚度)与矿体顶(底)板法线(真厚度)的夹角,然后按下式求解:
The use of various mathematical formulas to calculate the true thickness of the orebody (and formation) is complicated and error-prone. To solve this problem, there have been many dedicated tools, nomograms, calculation tools and calculation sheets. In fact, the true thickness of the orebody (or rock formation) can be rapidly determined by using the familiar polarographic projection network (Wu mesh) and a steel rule on the transparent paper, with a precision of up to 30 seconds. The key to calculating the true thickness of the ore body is to measure the angle between the wire (false thickness) and the normal (true) thickness of the top (bottom) plate of the ore body, and then solve as follows:
