Economy和economics在19世纪下半叶传入我国,其汉译曾引发旷日持久的巨大争议。本文回溯分析了economy和economics的词源和词义变迁,对比“经济”在汉语中的词源和词义变迁,分析了economy和economics的汉译流变,并从译者主体性的角度对其汉译流变进行了解读。本文发现economy和economics的词源和词义变迁,直接影响了这对术语的汉译流变;日本率先采用经济二字翻译economy说明汉字在日本引进西学中发挥了积极的作用;译者发挥主观能动性,产生术语多译的现象,但也促进了术语的完善。
